LIVER FIBROSIS

Liver fibrosis occurs in most types of chronic, inflammatory liver diseases. Inflammation that involves cytokines produced by both liver resident cells and circulating immune cells leads to collagen accumulation.  Advanced liver fibrosis results in cirrhosis and liver failure.
